History
South Africa has one of the most diverse and politically turbulent histories of any country you would choose to visit. It’s fascinating cultural, political and human history stretches back beyond Apartheid to the Bushmen and Khoikhoi and encompasses gold, diamonds, treason, treachery and repression.
Modern South Africa was discovered by the Dutch who landed at the cape to take on provisions for onward journeys during the 17th Century.
Several hundred years of slavery and descent followed however, more recently South Africa has enjoyed peaceful times and is looking forward to a fourth democratic election.
